Pop Shoppe Root Beer is a recently resurrected Canadian classic, with lots of spicy flavoring and hints of honey and vanilla that provide nice complexity. Its distinct licorice nose and sweet, herbal aftertaste make this “soda racinette” (French for “root beer”) the perfect Holiday Season beverage. With both medium creaminess and carbonation to give it a slight but long-lasting head, Pop Shoppe Root Beer feels light your mouth, though the flavor stays put, right where it should.

Though Pop Shoppe Root Beer uses the unique, stubby bottle that originally made it stand out, it’s had a facelift on the inside since being reintroduced less than 10 years ago. Those odd bottles are now made using reclaimed glass, and just recently, Pop Shoppe abandoned corn syrup as a sweetener in favor of cane sugar.
