The oldest continuously operating brewery in the western United States, Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Company was founded by German immigrant Henry Weinhard in 1856 near Fort Vancouver, in what was then the Oregon territory. Thirsty soldiers, trappers, loggers, miners and pioneer settlers were his customer base. Weinhard's had been family-owned since its inception until it was purchased in 1982. Although known for their beer Henry Weinhard's created four great tasting gourmet sodas: Henry Weinhard's Root Beer, Vanilla Cream, Orange Cream and Black Cherry Cream.
