During the year 1885 in Waco, Texas which was colloquially known as "six shooter junction" there existed a popular business and meeting place called Wade Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store, which became the birth place of the popular Dublin Dr. Pepper.
Invented by pharmacist Charles Alderton, Dublin Dr. Pepper is a wonderful smelling drink like that of a soda fountain. Dublin Dr. Pepper unique scent came as a result of mixed fruit, spices and different aromas. Not long after Dr. Pepper became an instant hit. Since this popular drink was unnamed at the time, people started calling it "shoot me Waco!". Morrison eventually gave it the official name of Dr. Pepper, which was the name of the father of a girl he loved.
In 1891, Morrison and partner Robert Lazenby commissioned Artesian Manufacturing and Bottling Company to bottle and sell Dr. Pepper. This paved the way for businessman Sam Houston Prim to get interested and got a deal from Morrison's company to franchise and sell it in his bottling plant in Dublin, Texas from where the name Dublin Dr. Pepper came from. Although it was the smallest franchisee, it is one of the major producers of Dr. Pepper soda, intensifying its success even though it only supplies to a limited area.
In 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, Dr. Pepper's popularity rose nationwide and soon became a cult favorite among soda drinkers. It rose into being one of the top 3 soft drinks in the US and the number one in the non-cola category. Over the years Dr. Pepper's headquarters still remain in its hometown Dublin, Texas, making it the nation's oldest Dr. Pepper bottler.
