The Lafayette Dog n Suds was first opened on July 26th 1956 by Joe VanDame. "Grampa Joe" ran the store for 12 years and then turned it over to his son Don VanDame. Don ran the store along with his wife Carol till March of 1998 when it was sold to the current owner Dan Washington. In it's hay day the Dog n Suds chain reached a high of 750 stores!

Today there are only 11 stores left yet you can still purchase this great tasting root beer.
