"TaB is Back" so the new Coca Cola slogan reads for
TaB Soda. Tab is a diet cola soft drink that has had quite a past to say the least. Created in 1963 as a competitor to Diet Rite, TaB gained quite a following of drinkers. TaB was know for using sodium saccharin which ultimately became an issue with the FDA causing a warning to be placed on the product stating saccharin was found to be a carcinogen. By 2000 this notion had been debunked and the warning had been removed as scientific community realized there was no correlation.
TaB's name was originally created by the use of an IBM computer that computed every 4 letter word combinination with one vowel. Although the name started as Tabb it was modified to become TaB as we now know it. Although Diet Coke took over this market for Coca Cola TaB still maintains a loyal following of drinkers.
TaB currently uses saccharin and aspartame as its sweetener but its best ingredient, caffeine, still remains.
