Henry Weinhard's Root Beer along with their other gourmet sodas are still produced at the oldest continuously operating brewery in the western United States, Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Company. The Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Co. was founded by German immigrant Henry Weinhard in 1856 near Fort Vancouver, in what was then the Oregon territory. Thirsty soldiers, trappers, loggers, miners and pioneer settlers were their early customer base. The brewing company was family-owned since its inception until it was purchased in 1982. Although known for their beer, Henry Weinhard created four great tasting gourmet sodas that are still available today.
